In 5 sections, Charles Wood's St Mark Passion was composed over the course of nine days in August 1920 and it received its first performance the following Passiontide in King's College Chapel, Cambridge.
The work calls for solo tenor (evangelist), solo baritone (Jesus), chorus and organ, as well as minor roles for five solo basses and two solo trebles.
