- Sailor's Chorus
Oper
The idea for the Sailors’ Chorus came to Wagner in 1839 aboard ship in the safety of a fjord after having fled from a storm at sea. The chanting of the crew as it echoed off the fjord’s granite cliffs inspired the composer tocreate this Chorus with its accented rhythms. The Sailors' Chorus is scored for men’s Chorus TTBB. Lyrics in German and English translation are provided.
