- Allegro assai
- Andante
- Rondo. Allegretto
The double concerto appears here in print for the first time. Nothing is known of the circumstances of its composition; its source is a manuscript of German provenance dating from 1902, being a reduction for piano (here slightly edited) of an accompa- niment originally for orchestra. This good-humoured work offers considerable scope to the bravura and cantabile possibilities of the two solo instruments and betrays the hand of a skilled craftsman. The central operatic section in 6/8 quotes the well-known folk-song Oh, du lieber Augustin.
The reconstruction for two bassoons and orchestra is written by Alexander Maschat. The orchestral parts are available on hire.
