A text-critical edition “based on the sources” of this work which was first published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 1885
After Peter Gülke's revised edition of the "Unfinished", here is the new edition (1992) of the Fifth by Peter Hauschild. Since the Fifth Symphony was first published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 1885, a text-critical edition "based on the sources" of this work was long overdue.
Though the alterations in the earlier text were made by none other than Johannes Brahms, they are treated here as "footnotes", for our new edition rigorously follows the primary sources.
