Four-handed piano pieces are often used in the education and development of aspiring pianists, for example in the highly approachable Melodic Exercise Pieces by Anton Diabelli, and became increasingly popular in the 19th century as reductions of large orchestral works, so that they could be enjoyed from the comfort of ones own home. Many composers also published independent, stand-alone piano pieces for four hands.
Some of the most beautiful and popular classical compositions of piano pieces for four hands include the Slavonic Dances by Antonín Dvořák and the Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms .
