for Flute Quintet
The inspiration for Forbidden Valley came from a dream of a voyage into a deep, dry valley that contained vivid secrets, quiet waters, and timid vegetation. The piece can be played either by a flute quintet composed of three flutes, plus alto and bass flutes, or by a more unusual bass flute quintet composed of bass flute, bass flute in F, contrabass flute, contrabass flute in F and a subcontrabass flute. All parts for this arrangement are also included in this publication. There are some advanced playing techniques, especially sound and tongue pizzicato.
