Kaseko is vrolijke dansmuziek. Kaseko is ontstaan uit de traditionele Surinaams-creoolse kawina muziek. Kaseko heeft twee elementen van de kawina overgenomen: het zingen volgens roep- en antwoordpatroon (call and response) en hetgebruik van percussie-instrumenten. Het belangrijkste percussie-instrument is de skratsji (een grote trom uit Suriname met een bekken bovenop), die geeft het basisritme aan.
De percussie-instrumenten worden aangevuldmet westerse popinstrumenten, zoals een elektrische gitaar, een basgitaar en een drumstel.
Binnen de kaseko zijn er verschillende stijlen.
