This Galop, one of the most famous works by the Austrian musician Johann Strauss senior, was composed in 1837. The source of inspiration for this was the Cachucha, a Spanish dance which was very popular in Vienna at the time. The composer completed the score just one hour before the premiere of this Galop and without even a single rehearsal the work was presented to the public, who immediately embraced it... it has remained that way to this day.
