The Girl in 14G was written by Jeanine Tesori for the American actress and singer, Kristen Chenoweth, and featured on her 2001 debut CD, Let Yourself Go. The song is based on her personal experience: when she first moved to New York City, she couldn’t sleep due to the constant noise. She meets her noisy neighbours and tells how she finally gets them to keep quiet. We hear elements from the opera Tristan und Isolde, the aria Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute, as well as Swan Lake.
