Theodore Presser Company has adapted Charles E. Ives's Variations on "America" for violin and piano. Ives wrote this piece as a teenager for solo organ, and it was published in 1949 as a result of support from E. Power Biggs, a prominent concert organist and recording artist. While orchestrations of this piece are standard for concert band and orchestra, Theodore Presser Company has also published it in many successful arrangements for instruments such as flute, trumpet, and solo piano. This setting for violin and piano was adapted from the flute version by Presser editor and composer Daniel Dorff, and the violin part was transcribed by well-known jazz violinist and concert artist Diane Monroe. Appropriate for both advanced students and professional players.
