Two solo trumpeters vie for supremacy in this arrangement - each attempting to 'out-play' the other along the way. The solo parts demand a degree of virtuosity and lyrical warmth in equal measure, whist the ensemble encourages from the side-lines, ensuring that honours are even at the close.
