Die rumänische Pianistin und Komponistin Violeta Dinescu wurde am 13. Juli 1953 in Bukarest geboren. Dort studierte sie am Konservatorium C. Porumbescu und legte 1977 ihr Staatsexamen mit Auszeichnung in den Fächern Komposition, Klavier und Pädagogik ab. Nach einem Lehrauftrag an der Musikschule George Enescu übersiedelte sie 1982 nach Deutschland. Seit 1996 ist sie Professorin für angewandte Komposition an der Universität Oldenburg. "DORU" für Flöte solo appelliert an die Fantasie des Spielers und erfordert einen Interpreten mit Gespür für rhythmische und melodische Freiheit sowie Erfahrung im Umgang mit graphischer Notation.
