Stockholm Waterfestival

In view of its island location, but also because of the countless fountains in the city, Stockholm celebrates its "Water Festival" every year in August - a folk festival for young and old, where music, especially pop and jazz, can be heard everywhere.

Luigi di Ghisallo takes us on a musical walk through Sweden's capital in his symphonic rock overture "Stockholm Waterfestival" and captures the atmosphere of the festival. The magic of the old town with its many fountains characterizes the introduction in the form of many trills. Afterwards a gospel choir with rock accompaniment can be heard entertaining the people on the Sergeltorget. Passing the town hall we reach the warship Wasa, whose fate the composer captures in a humorous way, because it sank on its maiden voyage.

Then we return to the city, to the Royal Palace with the famous changing of the guard, which is traced by the composer in operetta-like humour. In the evening we finally visit the amusement park Gröna Lunds Tivoli. There is a lot of hustle and bustle - and we party with pop and rock music until the lights go out.
