This first Trio in G (1928) for violin, cello and piano falls entirely within those felicitous years preceding the exile and belongs to an intense creative period in which Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s chamber music, initially characterized by experimentation with free forms, gradually consolidates into more traditional structures.
