The Splendour Falls

Instrumentation: 3 trumpets in B flat, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba in F

The title of this piece is taken from the opening line of a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson: “The splendour falls on castle walls.” It arises from the memories of the sunlight falling on the walls of an old castle tower which was part of my family’s home.
